Serving the Larger Community

Tikkun olam— repairing the world — is a hallmark of Reform Judaism. It teaches us to strive to bring peace, freedom, and justice to all people. Reform Jews believe that all human beings are created in the image of God, and that we are God’s partners in improving the world.

The Social Action Committee of FVJC-ES works on projects to help bring about Tikkun Olam and we would love to have you join us on our committee work or on one of our projects:

  • Yom Kippur Food Drive
  • Thanksgiving Food Drive
  • Village for Children and Families
  • Passover Food Drive
  • Give Tzedakah Instead of Stuff
  • Hartford Jewish Coalition for Literacy
  • Sisterhood Knitting/Crocheting Project
  • Sisterhood Collection of Personal Care and Cleaning Products for Jewish Family Services

Lastly, we’d love to have you join our Social Action Committee. Contact Viviann Rubin, our Social Action Committee Chairperson.

In addition volunteers are appreciated to help with Hesed activities such as assisting at time of death and illness, arranging transportation etc.

For updates of Social Action Activities, watch for our Eblasts.
