News from Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation-Emek Shalom
Thanks to many members of the congregation, this year's celebration will be under a new, handicapped-accessible Sukkah. David and Linda Levine have generous provided the materials for this project. Mark Lescher created a weather-resistant sturdy design and served as the construction. Others members, including Mike Bonchik, Mike DeRosa, Loel Goldblatt, Phil Lerner, Jim Murphy, Mike Rabinowitz, Alan Rocklin, Dale Schwartz, Jeffery Tencer, and Mike Wertheimer, worked hard in rainy and cold weather to help make Mark's vision come to life.
For nearly 20 years, we have carefully walked down a sloping path to celebrate Sukkot. Not only was the Sukkah showing its age, but it was difficult for those with mobility issues to access. The public is invited to join FVJC-Emek Shalom Religious School students and their families in decorating the new Sukkah on Sunday, October 19 at 9 am, followed by a Oneg at 10 am. This would be a great opportunity to introduce FVJC-Emek Shalom to new and prospective members.
