FVJC-Emek Shalom, the light of the Jewish community in the Farmington ValleyNews from Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation-Emek Shalom

This Week at FVJC-Emek Shalom:

This Sunday, don't just drop the kids off for Religious School

There are opportunities for fun & fellowship at the synagogue. First, stop by the Social Hall for the annual Welcome Back Breakfast from 9am to 10:30 am. The breakfast is sponsored by the Sisterhood. Membership forms will be available that day or you can get the form by clicking here.

When you're fortified with a bagel & coffee, join us to help to build our new Sukkah. We are looking for volunteers who can help anytime between 9 and 2. No technical expertise necessary, we just need people. Lets give our Religious School students a beautiful new Sukkah to decorate this October. David and Linda Levine have generous provided the materials for this project.

Honor Dr. Jean Weigert as Israel Unity Leader

The State of Israel Bonds celebrates Israel at 60 with a presentation of the Israel Unity Award to community leaders. Our own Dr. Jean Weigert, Past President, is one of the recipients. Join the Gala Dessert Reception on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 7 PM at Beth El Temple in West Hartford. Please contact Elaine.Price@IsraelBonds.com for more information or to make your reservation.

Enjoy Music of the High Holidays

Friday, September 19, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. On this Shabbat, we prepare to once again be wrapped in the melodies of Rosh Hashonah and Yom Kippur. Where do these precious tunes that evoke such feeling in us come from? How did they develop over time? What is it about these sounds that make our prayers come alive with meaning and spirituality? Begin your entrance into the Yamim Nora'im, The Days of Awe, with singing, listening and learning.

FVJC-Emek Shalom Can Help Build Your Business
